El capitan server app download
Because having a copy of the OS version in a separate device ensures that you always have a backup plan to install it or re-install it on the PC. When you have the USB installer with the El Capitan Installer in it, you no longer need the internet connection or the access to the Mac App Store to perform the upgrade.
You can either use the default method to upgrade install or clean install methods to get El Capitan Installer but, without any doubt, Clean Install is the best method to upgrade your Mac OS. I hope all the above facts prove that. Besides, there is no such external place to get this OS upgrade. I have provided the steps to install El Capitan in the above of this site.
How to download El Capitan Installer? Go to the App Store and open the El Capitan page there. The installer will open automatically after finishing the download process. The Mac Apps must be up to date with the latest versions.
Then erase the startup drive. After then, start the clean install process. Rename the USB driver using an easy to remember and use name.
Select and copy the text of the below-mentioned terminal command. When the windows prompted, enter the admin level account password of yours and press to Return.
Also, keep your apps up to date. Offer fewer ways to find out if attackers are insecure. Set up non-admin accounts for someone who does not expect complete control over your Mac. When you set up your new Mac you become its administrator with full rights to make changes throughout the computer. But those privileges should not be for anyone using your Mac. And even though you don't have to, you do not want to operate as an administrator yourself.

I know it might have not been related but since then and after spending two days downloading :"Additional components" to do a clean install of El Capitan Which I already had on a boot drive anyway I didn't want to risk setting it up again in case that's what caused my internet account issues. Besides that I also wanted to play around with the server software and maybe set it up for other uses.
If not, that article doesn't apply, is unnecessary, and you don't need to download additional components. If it is a NAS, then it is not supported by Apple and many posts here suggest while it looks like it is backing up, restoring is impossible, so it is not much of a backup. You can just share out your hard drive via File Sharing in the client version of OS X and it will be available for other Macs to use as a Time Machine backup.
No Server necessary. No additional components necessary. No it wasn't a NAS. My other mac is a mac mini with 2 hdds and has El Capitan installed on it. I setup 1 hdd as a back up location and could see it on the network but time machine couldn't see it from my Imac until I followed the instructions in the link in my post above.
Then I could choose it as a back up location in time machine. How do I set it up using the client version of OSX? And where can I get the client version of OSX from? OK I think I know what you mean after doing some more research. However from what I've read you can't use file sharing for time machine backups with an internal drive.
It would only work if I connected an external drive to my Mac mini and set that up as the shared drI've and then as the drive that time machine uses? I was trying to setup one of my internal hard drives on the Mac mini for time machine on my iMac to use. Oct 31, AM. Oct 31, PM in response to truman41 In response to truman
